Since I made a promise to update my blog every so often, I am very much impressed with the functionalities of Multiply except that I cannot edit the HTML codes and it's hard to check on the PMs. Other than that, I guess Multiply is your "Nokia" in blogging terms---easy to use, easy to deploy (just like Vortex, hahahaha). Working on Multiply is a no brainer if you're just in for the posting of entries, reviews and pictures. Your site also gets a little restriction since you can't comment if you don't have an account. I just discovered cross-posting this morning, and I visited two sites when I looked up "cross-posting in Multiply" in Google.
I have a blogspot aka
Blogger account since 2004 and it's linked to my "legal" Gmail e-mail address. [I have 3 Gmail accounts - legal,
Picasa dump,
Friendster and
Facebook notification dump"]
Being the blogger that I am, it's hard to open around 4 blog hosts and post a single entry all at the same time. The problem with Blogger is it copies the font style of the text that you posted so your entries don't look the same if you just copied it from your Multiply blog. I had to migrate all my Xanga entries to my Blogger to ensure that I only get to manage two blogs. However, since I don't have much time to blog these days, I was hoping that there is a solution to my blogging dilemma.
That's when I came across cross-posting. In layman's term, it just means that you only post on one of your blogs and your other blog automatically picks it up and posts it in your other blog. Example, you posted ENTRY 1 in Multiply, your Blogger will automatically pick ENTRY 1 and post it in your Blogger without the need for you to manually log in and moving your entries using the CUT and PASTE method.
I know this discovery may sound outdated, but I just found out about it now. :)
Check the sites where I got my cross posting tips:
There's no better way than to try to do it yourself and perform some tests, right?
Below are some tips on how to link your
Blogger to your
Multiply and vice-versa.
Multiply posts to Blogger
How to configure your Multiply Settings:
1. Log in your Multiply account. (of course!)
2. Click on Settings on the upper right portion of your Multiply page.
3. Click on Posting Options.
4. Check on the box under Cross Posting.
5. Click on Account Settings in the same page.
6. You will be prompted to enter your Blogger login and password. Key in your details and click on Ok.
Posting Instructions:
1. Click on Post then click Blog.
2. At the bottom of your Compose Blog Entry page (just below the tags) you will see all the blogs linked to your Blogger account. (Ex. I have 3 blogs under my Blogger account so I have 3.) The titles of your blogs are shown so you can choose to deselect the blogs where you don't want to publish your post. If you don't want to publish your entry in your Blogger, uncheck all the boxes.
Viola! All your Multiply posts will automatically be posted in your Blogger account. No need to take an extra step or login your Blogger account.
Blogger posts to Multiply
1.
Log in your
Blogger account(of course!). Blog as normal.
2. Login your Multiply account. Click on Post.
3. At the bottom of your Compose Blog Entry page, in the Import Blog section, click on the logo of the blog where you want to import entries from. In my case, it's Blogger. You will be prompted to key in your Blogger ID and password. Make sure that the Enable cross-posting between Multiply and Blogger box is checked. Click Ok.
4. After clicking ok, you will see the Import Blogger Blogs page. You can click on your Blogger posts that you want to import in your Multiply blog. After choosing your posts, click on Ok.
Unfortunately, your posts in Blogger would not post in your Multiply automatically. You have to login your Multiply account after posting your entries in Blogger and do the steps I just enumerated [Blogger posts to Multiply] to completely migrate your Blogger entries.
You can also import the your posts from the following blog hosts to your Multiply account:
Yahoo 360
TypePad
Windows Live Spaces
Live Journal
Amazon.com
If you have other ideas on how to automatically post your Blogger entries in Multiply or other suggestions, please feel free to comment. Thank you!
